Cigar cabinet / Cigar humidor in burr wood and decorative bronze

Napoléon III period – 19th century



Elegant cigar cabinet or smoker's box from the second half of the 19th century, crafted in fine burr wood with ebony stringing.

The front and lid are richly adorned with chiselled bronze and brass mounts, embellished with medallions depicting female faces and horse heads in relief.

The shaped lid opens to reveal a carefully fitted interior designed for the storage and preservation of cigars.

It comprises several pierced sliding trays allowing for neat organisation and good air circulation, as well as a large lower compartment.

The initials "C P" appear on the front, most likely those of the original owner.

The refined decoration, the quality of the timbers and the richness of the ornamentation are characteristic of the luxury productions of the Napoléon III period.

Some wear, minor losses and restorations consistent with age and use.
