Returns and refunds
Return, withdrawal and refund policy on Antiquités en France. 14-day period, procedures and mediation.
Last updated : January 1, 2026
Who is the seller?
Antiquités en France (AEF) is a marketplace connecting buyers with registered professional antique dealers and brocanteurs. For each order, the seller is the professional dealer whose listing you viewed. AEF acts as an intermediary and is not the seller of the items.
Right of withdrawal (14 days)
Any distance purchase from a professional dealer gives you a 14-day withdrawal period, in accordance with French consumer law (Articles L221-18 et seq. of the French Consumer Code).
The period starts from the receipt of the item by the buyer (or the last item in the case of a multiple-item order).
How to exercise your right of withdrawal
- Notify your decision to the dealer before the 14-day period expires, via the platform messaging system, by email or by any letter clearly stating your intention to withdraw. You may use the standard withdrawal form available here.
- Return the item to the dealer no later than 14 days after notifying your withdrawal. The item must be returned in its original condition, carefully packed.
- Return shipping costs: unless the dealer has stated otherwise on the listing, return shipping costs are borne by the buyer. Given the nature, weight and fragility of antique items, we recommend insured shipping.
Refund
The dealer will refund all amounts paid (item price and standard delivery charges) within 14 days of being informed of your withdrawal decision. The dealer may withhold the refund until the item is received or until you provide proof of shipment, whichever occurs first.
The refund is made using the same payment method used for the order, unless you expressly agree otherwise.
You may be liable for any diminution in value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature and characteristics of the item.
Damaged or non-conforming items
If the item received is damaged, does not match the listing description or has a defect, contact the dealer without delay. You also benefit from the legal guarantees of conformity and against hidden defects under French law.
Exceptions
The right of withdrawal does not apply to goods sold at public auctions that the buyer may attend in person, nor to other cases provided for by Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code. Sales on the platform are at fixed prices and therefore give rise to a right of withdrawal.
Disputes and mediation
If you have a dispute with a dealer, report it to AEF at contact@antiquites-en-france.com. The publisher may offer mediation. Under Article L612-1 of the French Consumer Code, you may also use a consumer mediator free of charge: CM2C (Centre de la médiation de la consommation de conciliateurs de justice), 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris — www.cm2c.net.
