Commode in the Louis XVI style in walnut

Louis XVI-style chest of drawers in walnut, late 18th – early 19th century, opening at the front with five drawers arranged in three tiers with drop handles. The central drawer of the top tier is lockable with its original working key. The top is in thick, veined white marble with a cove edge — an exceptionally substantial slab. The chest is ornamented with brass beading on the drawers and on the two-panel sides. A brass moulding accentuates the row of three upper drawers. The front stiles are rounded with rudenté fluting; the rear stiles are likewise rudenté-fluted. The tops of the front stiles are dressed with paterae. The four toupie feet are ringed and terminate in a sabots.
