Description

Empire Mirror with Triangular Pediment, 19th century

Dimensions:

Height: 102 cm
Width: 63 cm

A charming Empire-style mirror in stained mahogany, surmounted by a triangular pediment inspired by antique architecture.

The composition evokes a classical temple, with pilaster uprights adorned with gilt bronze appliqués depicting female busts styled in the antique manner.

The pediment features a central gilt bronze motif representing a laurel wreath within a diamond shape framed by arrows, while the lower rail is decorated with a gilt bronze rosette.

The bases of the pilasters are finished with stylized gilt bronze claw feet, further enhancing the neoclassical elegance of the piece.

The mirror retains its original antique glass, which presents a fine reflection and contributes to the authentic character of the piece.

Its harmonious proportions make it equally suited for placement above a console, a fireplace mantel, or as a decorative element in an entrance hall or reception room.
