Giovanni Panza, market scene in Provence.

This richly coloured and luminous painting depicts two women at the centre of a square: one stands before her market stall while the other, younger, nurses her child. Behind them, at the foot of what appears to be the walls of a citadel, further stalls are set out, and to the right a small commercial street is animated by numerous figures. A young shoeshine boy, his equipment slung over his shoulder, walks away with his back turned to them.
Giovanni Panza was an Italian painter born in 1894 and died in 1989.
