Description

This Louis XV-style tea table captivates with the graceful sweep of its cabriole legs, enriched by gilt bronze mounts featuring cascading garlands of fruit, ribbons and leafy scrolls — ornamental motifs emblematic of the 18th-century decorative repertoire. The eye is then drawn to the warm, inviting quality of the mahogany veneer, whose deep tones beautifully set off the oval silhouette of the piece. The upper tier, delicately edged with a brass gallery, is inset with a white-veined pink marble surface whose luminous tones lend a precious and refined accent. Below, a second, larger tier — equally bordered by a brass gallery — provides an elegant auxiliary surface and is distinguished by its two side handles, which underscore the convivial character of this charming salon piece. The butterfly-matched veneer shifts in tone with the changing light. The whole strikes a subtle balance between decorative richness and refinement of line, perfectly embodying the graceful and elegant spirit of the Louis XV style.
