Bouquet De Dahlias Signé Louis Bigaux.

Louis Félix Bigaux "knight of the Legion of Honor" painter of genre, flowers and landscapes, pupil of Delfosse and Defay, was born in La Manche in Lessay. He was active in Paris at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century and was a member of the society of French artists from 1889.
This bouquet of dahlias is presented in a cut crystal vase, it rests on an entablature. The very free composition of this painting is full of gaiety, the white and slightly pink dahlias illuminate the whole. In the past, country gardens were frequently planted with dahlias, gladioli, lilies, etc. These plants were often found around the vegetable garden, they embellished it and were intended for the mistress of the house in order for her to flower her interior.
The painting is highlighted by a very beautiful gilt frame in the Louis XV style of the mid-20th century.
