Description

Beautiful clock with a finely worked bronze on a white marble Carrara decorated with brass rods.
The bronze features a seated gentleman, a parchment in his hand and resting on the clock on which is an inkwell and a book of Fables. A sword in its sheath and a helmet officer Dragons placed on its side. These details are reminiscent of the representation of Fabian Jean-Pierre Claris Florian born in 1755 and died in 1794.
The clock has a dial with Roman numerals and signed "A Vernon" and its mechanism is numbered 57565.
The marble base rests on 4 brass tops.
Period: Middle nineteenth.

Very good state. Note a crack repaired at the back of the marble.
Mechanism in working order but to be revised.

Bronze: Width 25.5 cm - Prof. 11 cm - Height 20 cm.
Marble: Width 34 cm - Prof.12 cm - Height 14 cm.
