Napoleon III table

Very elegant Napoléon III period salon table in rosewood veneer, featuring a remarkable shaped top with rounded corners.

The top is adorned at its centre with a rich polychrome floral marquetry, composed of bouquets of flowers and foliage in gilded and natural tones, highlighted by fine marquetry stringing (in satinwood) forming a geometric border.

The apron, also richly decorated, displays an elaborate marquetry design of scrolling foliage and floral motifs, framed by panels and stringing. The sides are enhanced with small decorative panels.

The table stands on an elegantly shaped base, joined by an X-shaped stretcher with a central element adorned with a small decorative motif. The legs are cabriole-shaped and terminate in sabots, with elegant bronze mounts and ornaments.

The piece as a whole bears witness to particularly refined cabinetmaking, with careful attention to the veneer design, the marquetry composition and the movement of the base.
