Aubusson tapestry cartoon, 19th century, depicting a scene inspired by La Fontaine's Fables, "Le Loup devenu Berger" (Book III, Fable 3).
Design executed for the weaving of a tapestry intended for a sofa back.
Gouache on paper, laid down on board (later mounting).
Later natural wood frame.
