Glazed walnut bookcase – 19th century
Elegant glazed walnut bookcase of fine presentation, dating from the 19th century.

The piece features an architectural façade with two glazed doors, each opening onto an interior fitted with several shelves. The lower panels of the doors are adorned with walnut panels, while the stiles and central mullion are highlighted by moulding details and decorative veneer work.

The piece is particularly notable for the quality and movement of the walnut grain, especially on the upper cornice and the façade panels. The upper section is crowned by a moulded cornice with a shaped profile, lending the piece a particularly elegant presence.

The interior retains its original fittings with solid wood shelves.

The piece rests on four sabot feet; the interiors are well-finished and glazed.

By its proportions, construction and decoration, this bookcase is firmly rooted in the tradition of 19th-century French furniture making.
