Louis XV-style marquetry slope-front bureau – Napoléon III period

Slope-front bureau, also known as a dos d'âne desk, Napoléon III period.
In blackened wood with bone inlays and a marquetry of various indigenous woods on the front and sides, featuring a rich decorative scheme of floral motifs, flower-filled cassolettes, arabesques, birds, butterflies, etc.
The bureau opens via a fall front covered in original black leather forming a writing surface, revealing an interior fitted with six small lateral drawers (three on each side), a central niche, two storage shelves, and a secret compartment concealed beneath a pull-out slide.
It features two frieze drawers (one on each side) with a shaped stretcher below.
The whole rests on cabriole legs ending in bronze sabots.
