Mahogany Salon Furniture, Empire Style – 1900

This elegant work table in mahogany and mahogany veneer fully embodies the noble aesthetic of the Empire style, with its balanced silhouette and discreet refinement. The upper top opens to reveal a compartmented interior, thoughtfully designed to accommodate small objects within a carefully arranged arrangement of volumes. Below this recess, a drawer fits with perfect sobriety, animated by a chiselled bronze pull.
The structure is supported by two columns, each adorned with finely worked bronze collars, lending a solemn verticality and the architectural presence typical of Imperial furniture. The feet are united by a concave base, which stabilises the whole while adding a sculptural touch. The deep, patinated mahogany exudes a noble warmth, while the bronzes play with the light to offer a subtle and precious contrast.
