Mountain pine armoire, 19th century
Sculpted pine armoire – 19th century
An elegant solid pine armoire opening by two moulded doors carved with animated reserves and Louis XV-style scrollwork. The shaped cornice (chapeau de gendarme profile) is adorned with a central medallion, echoed again at the base, lending the whole a fine sense of harmony.
The wood displays a warm honey patina that enhances the natural grain of the pine. The doors retain their original long pierced brass escutcheons. The gently rounded stiles and cabriole feet underscore the quality of the piece's design.
The interior is well-finished and glazed, fitted with hanging space.
