Mountain pine armoire, 19th century
Carved pine armoire – 19th century
An elegant solid pine armoire opening through two moulded doors carved with lively cartouches and Louis XV-style scrollwork. The shaped cornice (chapeau de gendarme profile) is adorned with a central medallion echoed on the lower section, lending the piece a pleasing overall harmony.
The wood displays a warm honey patina that enhances the grain of the pine. The doors retain their original long pierced brass escutcheons. The gently rounded stiles and cabriole feet underscore the quality of the piece's design.
The interior is neat and fitted with hanging rails.
