COLINET Claire (1880/1950) Bronze "Danseuse au serpent"

Gilt-patinated bronze sculpture resting on a pyramidal marble base, depicting a nude dancer in a graceful pose, her gaze lowered toward a serpent coiled around her ankle.
Signed on the marble: Colinet.
About the artist: Born in Brussels, Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet was a pupil of Jef Lambeaux. She exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants from 1937 to 1940. Strongly influenced by the Art Deco movement, she produced numerous chryselephantine female statuettes, her favourite subjects being exotic dancers — including the Mexican Dancer, Dancer of Corinth, and Egyptian Dancer.
