Louis XV Style Marquetry Chest of Drawers

Louis XV style marquetry chest of drawers, with a serpentine front and shaped sides. Oak structure throughout. The piece features an overall rich decoration of gilt and chiselled bronze. It opens with three large drawers fitted with drop-ring handles decorated with foliage, flowers and clusters of fruit, and foliate escutcheons. A brass stringing ornaments the top drawer. The stiles are adorned with substantial foliate bronze mounts, each surmounted on the lateral sides by a figural bust. The whole rests on cabriole feet and is topped with a veined white marble slab. A piece of fine craftsmanship.
