Description

This small Louis XVI-style glazed bookcase, crafted in mahogany and rosewood marquetry, presents an elegant silhouette resting on four tapering legs, lending it a slender and refined bearing. It is crowned by a white-veined Carrara marble top, delicately softened at the edges, while its apron is accented by a geometric chevron frieze, characteristic of the Neoclassical taste. The front opens by means of two glazed doors on the upper two-thirds, revealing an interior fitted with three adjustable shelves on a rack system, allowing the height to be adapted to the books or objects on display. The lower portion of the doors is adorned with a diamond-pattern marquetry framed by mahogany and rosewood friezes, creating a subtle interplay of contrasts and geometry. The right-hand door features a finely wrought bronze escutcheon, surmounted by a delicate Louis XV bow, and accompanied by its chiselled key. The whole exudes a perfect harmony between architectural rigour, the warmth of fine timbers and decorative refinement, making this piece an ideal character item for a classical interior or a collector's cabinet.
