Louis XV Tombeau Commode – 18th Century

Louis XV period tombeau-form commode, 18th century, with a bowed façade. Veneered in purplewood within the framing, with rosewood and green-tinted stringing. Oak carcass. Opens via five drawers arranged in three rows, each panel bordered with green stringing and fitted with its original pull handles and locks, all decorated with foliate bronze mounts. Handsome original gilt rocaille bronze corner mounts to the uprights and sabots. Topped with its original breche marble slab.
