Description

This Art Deco display cabinet in elm burl veneer, made circa 1940, presents a well-balanced silhouette in which the warmth of the precious wood enters into dialogue with a sober, geometric structure. The elm burl, with its deep swirling grain and intense reflections, wraps the façade in an organic movement that contrasts with the rigour of the lines, creating a subtle interplay between the natural and the architectural. The alternation of open niches and a closed compartment establishes a visual rhythm typical of late Art Deco, where functionality is dressed in understated elegance. The tubular metal handle extends this modernist aesthetic, introducing a cool vertical accent that frames the door and underscores the purity of the design. Inside, the two shelves share the same warm tone, providing a refined continuity even in the concealed areas. The whole rests on a slightly recessed concave base that lightens the piece and lends it a presence that is both stable and airy. This display cabinet finds its natural place in a contemporary or vintage interior, where it becomes a centrepiece capable of bringing character and a note of timeless sophistication.
