Louis XV two-body low buffet in walnut.

Charming low Louis XV buffet, dating from the 18th century. The front opens with two frieze drawers fitted with their iron escutcheons and iron pull knobs, above two moulded doors with elegant shaped panels. The doors retain their original long iron escutcheons, also known as lace-hole hinges.

The frame surrounding the doors is in oak — a technique used to add rigidity to the overall structure of the buffet.

The stiles are decorated with fluted mouldings with projecting fillets. The lower rail, richly carved with a foliate design, rests on cabriole feet characteristic of the Louis XV period.

The top displays a beautiful aged patina, and the piece as a whole offers a warm honey tone that enhances the natural grain of the walnut.

This piece of furniture has retained all its character, with its original hardware and original patina. It will find its place as naturally in a period home as in a contemporary interior in search of an authentic piece.
