Description

Pair of cabriolet armchairs with wide seats
Lyonnais work, Louis XV period, circa 1750
In solid walnut, with curved violin-shaped backs, finely carved with flowerheads and acanthus leaves.
The whiplash armrest supports, carved and curved seat rails, and moulded cabriole legs all attest to the quality of their craftsmanship.
Both cabriolets bear the stamp "NOGARET A LYON" on the rear uprights.
The upholstery has been entirely renewed by a professional.
Beautiful original patina.
Restoration consistent with age and use.
In very good condition.
*Pierre NOGARET (1718–1771), received as Master Joiner in Lyon in June 1745.
Pierre Nogaret was born in Paris in 1718 and remained the undisputed master of Lyonnais seating under the reign of Louis XV.
