Pair of Saint-Clément glazed ceramic candlesticks
France, 1960s–1970s
An original pair of candlesticks in shaded brown glazed ceramic, produced by the Saint-Clément manufactory.
Each candlestick takes the stylised form of a female figure with raised arms supporting two nozzles, in a spirit inspired by folk art and the Scandinavian and Modernist decorative creations of the second half of the 20th century.
The moulded decoration highlights details of the costume, the chevron pattern of the dress and the facial features, enhanced by a beautiful caramel-brown glaze with darker shading.
Their graphic silhouette and sculptural presence make them particularly sought-after decorative objects.
Condition
Very good overall condition.
Slight traces of use and minor wear consistent with age and use.
No notable damage observed.
