Description

Pair of Biedermeier chairs in light wood
Biedermeier period, first half of the 19th century

A charming pair of Biedermeier chairs in light wood, most likely cherry, showcasing the restrained and refined elegance characteristic of Germanic and Austro-Hungarian furniture from the first third of the 19th century.

The backs feature curved crossrails adorned with contrasting marquetry motifs — one decorated with a small stylised rosette, the other with a central medallion.

The clean lines, gently curved uprights and rear sabre legs are fully expressive of the Biedermeier aesthetic, with its emphasis on balanced proportions and the quality of fine wood species.

The seats are padded and upholstered in a striped floral fabric in beige and cream tones, in harmony with the warm hue of the wood.
