Description

This charming Louis XV-style lady's writing desk in rosewood and kingwood marquetry presents an elegantly shaped silhouette, its surfaces enlivened by a refined trellis pattern whose subtle interplay of precious veneers catches the light beautifully. The fall front, fitted with a finely chiselled bronze escutcheon and its working key, opens smoothly to reveal a delightful interior comprising five small drawers harmoniously arranged around a central niche — an intimate and refined space conceived for writing and correspondence. The shaped apron, true to the sinuous aesthetic of the 18th century, conceals an additional drawer with delicately worked pull handles, its own bronze escutcheon and functional lock, extending the elegance of the piece with a discreet note of practicality. The whole rests on graceful cabriole legs highlighted by bronze foliate drops and sabots that complete the line of the piece with distinction, lending this small secretary a presence at once precious, feminine and timeless — an ideal addition to any interior in search of charm, authenticity and refinement.
