A rare and elegant Charles X period fall-front secrétaire, crafted in elm burl with remarkable flame and watered figuring.

The façade, of great restraint, allows the natural richness of the wood to speak for itself — a hallmark of the refined cabinetmaking of the Restauration period.

The fall front opens to reveal a particularly well-appointed interior comprising several letter compartments, five small drawers and a central storage space.

It also uncovers a writing surface lined in green leather, creating a genuine working area.

The lower section is fitted with storage drawers concealed behind a harmonious façade.

The uprights are adorned with scroll-carved console mounts, a detail typical of Charles X furniture, while the whole rests on sheathed feet with moulded bases.

The exceptional quality of the elm burl, combined with the purity of the lines, lends this piece an elegant and warm presence.

Equally a writing desk and a storage piece, this secrétaire would find its place perfectly in a study, a library or a refined interior.
