Description

Large Louis XVI-style wingback bergère in walnut, this generously proportioned piece captivates with the balance of its lines and the richness of its ornament. The upper back features a remarkable blue Wedgwood jasperware medallion depicting an antique scene, delicately framed by a pearl garland, a broad ribbon bow and finely carved foliate scrolls. The entire frame, in moulded wood, is adorned with a continuous decoration of pearls and ovolo moulding, while the armrests are distinguished by their painted ornamentation, which underscores the refinement of the structure. The bergère rests on four turned, fluted and chamfered legs, typical of the Louis XVI aesthetic and testament to the skilled craftsmanship of the late 19th century. The upholstery has been entirely redone in the traditional manner, with springs and animal hair, ensuring authentic and lasting comfort; the checked fabric currently fitted can be reupholstered to your taste to integrate seamlessly into your interior. A decorative and comfortable piece, combining historical charm, quality of execution and scope for personalisation.
