Important drop-front secretary veneered in precious woods, Louis XV period, French work, 18th century.

This highly elegant piece features a shaped, animated façade adorned with a remarkable geometric veneer decoration of butterfly-wing panels and carved reserves.

The upper section opens by two grille-panelled doors to reveal a storage compartment.

The central fall-front section opens to a beautifully fitted interior comprising pigeon-holes, shelves and small drawers.

The lower section opens by two doors to reveal additional storage space.

Rich gilt bronze mounts throughout, including sabots, escutcheons and drop handles.

Fine serpentine lines typical of Louis XV furniture.

Exceptional quality cabinetwork and superb warm patina.
