Louis XV Style Marquetry Display Cabinet with Lower Buffet – Napoleon III period – 19th century. Various woods: rosewood veneer, walnut veneer, indigenous wood, ebonised wood. Rich floral marquetry decoration to the front, top and sides. Extensive gilt bronze ornamental mounts throughout, including: bronze corner mounts to the lower door, bronze friezes framing the lower door, waist, display cabinet door and shelves, upper frieze, etc. Bronze espagnolettes to the lower door and display cabinet door. Pierced gallery to the top of the piece. The cabinet comprises: a lower section opening with a single door enclosing two interior shelves; an upper section opening with a glazed door forming a display cabinet, with small shaped shelves to each side; a frieze drawer. The whole raised on small boulle-style feet with gilt bronze collars. A piece of fine craftsmanship.
