Description
Francesco Trevisani (1656 - 1746) was a pupil of Antonio Zanchi in Venice. He went to Rome in 1678 where he became a leading artist and where he became the head of the Roman school of Rococo.
This oil on canvas "Christ in the Garden" is probably the work of a student is like that found in the Basilica of Saint Martin of Tours.
It is characteristic of the painting by F. Trevisani who uses bright colors and diffused lighting.
Dimensions: 74/97 cm. The painting has been lined in the late nineteenth century and requires some small restorations
