Rectangular cigar cabinet with canted corners, in wood and lacquer decorated in a Japonesque style with birds and branches in black and gold on an orange-red ground. The monogrammed fall-front opens to reveal six removable trays.
Signed by the Maison Giroux, Paris, on the lock. Alphonse Giroux (1776–1848) was one of the most celebrated makers of luxury small objects and his pieces are always sought after and of excellent quality. The hinges are guilloché and the cabinet is in very good condition.
