This solid oak storage bench perfectly embodies the Neo-Gothic aesthetic, blending architectural rigour with exuberant carved ornament. Its robust structure is adorned with a rich decorative vocabulary drawn from Flamboyant Gothic: stylised floral motifs, radiating rose windows, deeply undercut foliage and geometric patterning inherited from medieval design.
The tall back, articulated by a row of turned balusters, is framed by uprights carved with scrolling volutes and chimeras, surmounted by a central rosette surrounded by rinceaux. The armrests, equally finely worked, rest on textured stiles that reinforce the characteristic verticality of the style. To the front, the chest presents two panels decorated with radiating rosettes and vegetal interlace, animating the entire face of the piece. The lift-top opening reveals a generous and practical storage space. The oak displays a beautiful depth of tone, showcasing the quality of the carving and the skill of the craftsman. At once a seat, a side piece and a decorative statement, this storage bench will bring a warm architectural presence to an entrance hall, a drawing room or a characterful interior.
