"1970' French Gueridon in the Style of Adam Weisweiler, Maison JANSEN, Mirrored Top"

Bronze Gueridon by Maison Jansen, unsigned, featuring an aged oxidized mirrored top. It rests on three pairs of faux bamboo legs connected by a curved triangular stretcher. Inspired by the style of Adam Weisweiler (1744-1820), this piece was crafted around 1970.

Maison Jansen, founded in Amsterdam, was renowned for the exceptional quality of its creations, which adorned royal palaces and the White House during John F. Kennedy’s presidency. Its furniture combines elegance and sturdiness, using precious materials such as gilded bronze, brass, and marble.

Adam Weisweiler, a master cabinetmaker established in Paris in 1778, was known for his refined furniture incorporating luxurious materials (bronze, Japanese lacquer, Sèvres porcelain). He collaborated with the marchands-merciers and counted among his clients Marie-Antoinette and the Prince of Wales. His work is distinguished by a strong taste for exoticism, notably through the use of bamboo motifs.
