Pair of Napoleon III period "voyageuse" chairs in black, richly carved, wood.
The back of the chairs have a top element for resting the arms when sitting astride the chairs. The seats have been restored and re-covered.

"Voyageuse chairs" were to be found in gaming rooms so as guests could assist the game and talk to other guests.

Mid-nineteenth century.
Some wear to the structure. New seats.
