Beautiful oil on canvas by the orientalist painter Eugène Deshayes (1862-1939) representing a Mediterranean landscape during sunset.

Titled on the reverse: "Casablanca".

Very good condition, to note a small and not very visible restoration just above the nearest boat, on the horizon line.

A student of Jean-Léon Gérôme, Eugène Deshayes exhibited in Algiers from 1890, then travelled throughout North Africa.
He exhibited at the Salon des artistes français where he received an honourable mention in 1896. His works met with great success, in particular his paintings of Algeria. He became the official painter of the Navy in 1910.
