Massive and imposing, the Empire style reflects Napoleon's taste for the monumental. Succeeding the Directoire style it was very fashionable in the early 19th Century.   Mahogany was first used but following the British blockage in 1806 the cabinet-makers turned to walnut, maple and ash.

Armchairs - Chest of drawers - Desks - Secretaire - Clocks
