Eugène PECHAUBES ( 1890 / 1967 )
Painter of military scenes, sports subjects, watercolorist, engraver.
Eugène Pechaubès first of all distinguished himself in his youth as a painter of military subjects, particularly drawn from the history of the Second Empire. Then he tended to devote himself almost exclusively to the study of racehorses, to the point of becoming a true portraitist of the famous racehorses, a sought-after profession of the breeders. Pechaubes knows perfectly the mechanism of the movement and the attitudes of the horses; he expresses the elegance and rigor of the gallop of the Arab animal with surprising accuracy. He is the master of horse racing and fantasias.
