Occasional tables

Find an occasional table

The mid 18th C saw a proliferation of small tables with various functions including the occasional table, easily placed near an armchair for holding a lamp or posing a cup or a book. Such tables were often in marquetry.  The Art Nouveau period was  rich in elaborately curved tables particularly those of Majorelle and the Nancy School.  The Art Deco occasional table has pure lines,  it is often geometric in shape and in walnut veneer.
