Military chests

Find a military chest

The military chest, used first for military campaigns, continued to develop during the 19th C with the expansion of the colonies.  It was designed for travelling by ship and is therefore  in two parts with removable feet, re-enforced brass corners and sunken brass handles to facilitate travelling and storing.  The military chest is usually in mahogany or teak with some Anglo-Indian chests in camphor wood.
