Louis XV

Louis XV style objects and furniture

The Louis XV period (1723-1774) was particularly creative producing the Rococo style.  Furniture was free standing, light and moveable with  armchairs,  cylinder-top desks, card tables and chiffoniers.  Lady's furniture appeared with writing slopes and dressing tables. Mirrors above the mantle became popular.  The furniture was often painted.  Decorative themes included fabulous scenes and oriental scenes.
