Medieval period

Medieval style objects and furniture - High Middle Ages

The Medieval period covered many centuries during which the practical side was more important than the esthetic.
Furniture was very rustic for the ordinary man whereas the lords and barons, often obliged to be on the move during the feudal wars, preferred chests and other such items easy to deplace.
Local wood was used to make these chests which were also used as tables or beds.
Other  furniture was used by the clergy, see also monestry table.
