Pendulum clock

Find a pendulum clock

The pendulum clock, a clock using a swinging weight to keep time, appeared under Louis XIV.   It can be a wall clock or free standing.  The "comtoise" longcase clock developped in the 19th C, the longer pendulum contained in the wooden case has a slower swing and causes less wear to the movement.
Pendum clocks come in all sorts of styles reflecting the styles of the period from the Louis XV style clock in Boule marquetry to the attractive Art Deco period mantle clock.
