Hallstand

Find a hallstand

The hallstand became an important item in hallways during the mid-19th C.  They  come in a variety of woods such as mahogany, oak and walnut and also,  from the end of the century,  in bamboo and wrought iron.  They usually comprise a mirror, a drawer and an umbrella rack as well as hooks and often an upper hat rack.  The Art Nouveau hallstand is particularly attractive with its intricate shape.
