Find a globe

The first globe in Europe dates from the 16th C but they were very rare.  They were popularized in France by three generations of the Delamarche family during the late 18th and 19th C. Early globes were in hand-painted wood or paper, followed by the globe in printed paper glued to a wooden base.  The 19th C saw the developpent of the hollow construction and Girard, Barrere & Thomas mass produced globes based on the maps of J. Forest during the late 19th and early 20th C.
