Louis XVI

Louis XVI style objects and furniture

The Louis XVI style dated for fifteen years from the beginning of his short reign  in 1774 to the French Revolution in 1789. It is a continuation of the Transition style.  The rococo style is replaced by neoclassisme.  It is a style of fluted columns, straight legs, rigid backs.  Display cabinets for ornements and collections appear.  Round or oval extending tables become popular.
